Now that Houston is out of here, who are you wanting to win the BIG game and do the damn THING?
I know, I know, I know, it hurts. It sucks the Colts get to go from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck, to complete negligence, back to being a great football team all over again. It’s devastating that the Texans didn’t franchise tag A.J. Bouye and have a terrible secondary, J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney weren’t box score good, and Deshaun Watson had a Kirk Cousins type of box score on Saturday afternoon. I’ll miss watching Houston play this weekend too as eight other teams rejoice in the Divisional Round.
Football is still football, and this is the best weekend of football we got. Four games where the #1 and #2 seeds replace the inferior pieces from the Wildcard Round. Although the Texans are gone, football, football doesn’t stop.
I really wanted to write TEN things for today, but I’m in the middle of a move and have only so much time and have to work, work, work, so I can die in the desert before the Sun melts everything and turns us all into puddles topped with patches of hair, with stray teeth floating around the bubbles. Despite this, even if I’m not writing I’m writing. My brain is a type writer clicking away about the 2018 NFL playoffs while I’m cleaning the refrigerator, doing dishes, and unpacking boxes of books.
More than anything I want Philip Rivers to throw salad bowl passes and run like molasses through New England, break Kansas City’s heart once again, and then finally, at the age of 37, kiss the one thing he’s never kissed, the Lombardi Trophy. Him, plus Derwin James smashing defenders and covering tight ends, Joey Bosa’s hands, Melvin Ingram and Melvin Gordon’s spin moves, hoodie Keenan Allen, Mike Williams’s quiet smile, and Mike Pouncey interior blocking revolution are all reasons why I want the Charges to win.
What about you? What do you want to see now that the Texans are out of it? Do you want to see the second greatest Battle of Los Angeles between the Chargers and Rams? Do you want Aaron Donald interior destruction to run through the NFC? Are you hoping Drew Brees completes one last dance after being settled with terrible defense for years? Is a fragile reality your thing, and you want Nick Foles to do it all over again? Are you happy as long as its a TEXAS team? Do you believe coaching is the most important part of a football team and need another New England title? Are you tired of the same old thing and want Patrick Mahomes to take over the league? Is Andrew Luck a tragic hero that deserves glory for all those wasted years? Or do you feel like me?
