Report: Randy Gregory suspended indefinitely for violating Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse

The Cowboys have issues with their defensive line and a suspension once again.

It’s officially NFL Combine week which means the biggest names in the National Football League are all together in Indianapolis to evaluate would-be talent for their teams.

The Cowboys enter this year’s Combine with some interesting needs, but they are now also down a player. Randy Gregory has been suspended for violating the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse and the conditions that went with his reinstatement according to Adam Schefter.

This is very bad for Gregory as it drastically hinders his future in the NFL. He was already on thin ice as he’d come back from multiple suspensions, he played 14 games in 2018 with the Cowboys.

It’s worth mentioning that back in late August there was a report that more trouble “could be ahead” for Gregory. This new suspension may be in connection to that or a different infraction entirely, we just don’t know right now.

The Cowboys are in contract discussions with DeMarcus Lawrence, and now they will be without his partner on the other end of the line. Would this give Lawrence even more leverage? Dallas is now down one of their better pass rushers, it’s not good.

Dallas has an unfortunate tradition of defensive players being suspended to start the season:

Here’s to hoping that ends.
