Sunday Dawg Chow: Browns news (2/10/19)

More of the latest Browns news and notes from around the web in today’s dose of the Sunday Dawg Chow.

Cleveland Browns:

  • Six combine snubs worth drafting (brownswire.com) - The NFL Scouting Combine takes place in Indianapolis from Feb. 26-March 4, and the list of 338 players invited to attend tops the number of players who will be drafted. Yet there are several players who did not get invited to the combine who are more than worthy of being drafted. Here are six combine snubs who fit for the Cleveland Browns and should still be considered eminently draft-worthy by GM John Dorsey and his Cleveland staff.

NFL:

  • Nick Foles leads 2019 NFL offseason’s most captivating figures (NFL.com) - Time to press the reset button. With Super Bowl LIII in the books and the Patriots on top of the world once again, the offseason is officially upon us. The playing fields have gone silent, but that’s not the case inside team facilities, where all 32 franchises author top-secret plans for free agency and April’s draft. With a flood of new faces -- and plenty of unanswered questions lingering from this past campaign -- here’s my list of players, coaches and front office generals who matter most this offseason.
  • Way to early NFL power rankings (ESPN) - The conclusion of Super Bowl LIII puts a bow on another NFL season -- and allows us to officially turn the page to 2019. We’re already looking ahead to next season with a way-too-early edition of NFL Power Rankings. Here’s how we think the league will stack up when next season begins. Plus, our NFL Nation reporters weigh in with every team’s best reason for optimism ahead of the new season. How we rank: Our power panel -- a group of more than 80 writers, editors and TV personalities -- evaluated how teams stack up throughout the season.
  • AAF’s substitute for kickoff, onside kick should attract NFL’s attention (PFT) - The kickoff is dead. As far as the Alliance of American Football is concerned. And at a time when the NFL seems to be inching toward a similar outcome, the more established league surely will be paying attention to the AAF’s tee-free reality.
  • Patrick Chung Delivers Message To Patriots Fans After Forearm Surgery (NESN) - At 31 years old, Patrick Chung faces a tough road back from the broken forearm he suffered in Super Bowl LIII. Add in the fact that the veteran safety is one of the most physical players on the New England Patriots, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Chung fails to regain his pre-injury form. But that’s just the conventional wisdom. Chung, in what should come as a surprise to no one, has every intention of returning next season and picking up where he left off.
