Bears sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

There’s absolutely no way I would ever allow myself to use a photo of him donning the cheese and snot uniform.

The former Packer and Redskin safety is the latest addition to a ferocious Bears defense.

The Chicago Bears previously had a need at safety following Adrian Amos’s recent signing with the Green Bay Packers. Naturally, in such a deep pool of players in this year’s market, Ryan Pace waited patiently to find his newest addition to a stacked Bears defense. Almost too patiently if you ask me.

Ironically, the solution comes in the form of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, formerly of the Washington Redskins and more notably the Green Bay Packers.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report of the signing. The terms of the deal are 1-year and $3.5 million. More or less, this is a one-year “prove it” deal for the 26-year old safety.

Drafted out of Alabama in 2014 by the Packers, the former 1st round pick has started a total of 74 games, recording 14 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles. His best season came in 2016 where he earned his first Pro Bowl nomination in what has been a respectable career thus far. Pairing him with All-Pro safety Eddie Jackson should make for a formidable play-making tandem patrolling the Bears’ secondary.

I’m all for cleansing the stench of moldy cheese with the Spirit of Halas and the Fire of Ditka. Especially when it comes to adding an already decent upgrade on such a well-built defense.
