Odell Beckham trade speculation just won’t die

You know what time it is — time to talk about the latest Beckham rumors

On the first day of the NFL free agency negotiating window the biggest noise surrounding the New York Giants has not been their re-signing of Spencer Pulley. The biggest noise has been about a guy who isn’t a free agent at all. Odell Beckham Jr., of course.

A pair of reports have indicated that there could be ongoing talks about Beckham playing elsewhere in 2019.

Giants GM Dave Gettleman repeated his “We didn’t sign Odell to trade him” mantra during the recent NFL Scouting Combine.

Despite how some may want to read that, those words do not mean “we won’t trade him.”

Going back to Jay Glazer’s prediction a few weeks ago that Beckham would be traded, too many reputable NFL writers and analysts have now gone down this road to believe that there is nothing behind all this chatter.

One team often thought of as a Beckham suitor is the San Francisco 49ers, and after the money they just tossed at linebacker Kwon Alexander, we know the 49ers aren’t playing around.

If the 49ers were to offer the Giants, say, the No. 2 and No. 36 picks in the upcoming draft for Beckham, might that be enough to get a deal done?

I don’t know, and I really don’t have any idea what price tag the Giants would consider enough to move on from Beckham. You have to wonder, though, could the Giants be looking at what just happened with Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers and thinking maybe they should move on before they find themselves in a similar situation.
