Making moves.
The Philadelphia Eagles have freed up just over $5 million in cap space by restructuring the contracts of veteran defensive end Chris Long and linebacker Nigel Bradham, according to a report from NFL insider Field Yates.
Long and Bradham aren’t the first Eagles players to agree to restructured contracts this offseason. Howie Roseman has not been shy about increasing players’ cap numbers in future years in order to lower them in 2019.
It still remains to be seen if Long will actually be back with the Eagles in 2019. I’d say signs are generally pointing to a return, but nothing seems official yet on that front.
It’s currently unclear how much cap space the Eagles have left to work with. Over The Cap has Philadelphia around $15.4 million but that doesn’t account for DeSean Jackson’s extension, Malik Jackson’s contract, or L.J. Fort’s deal.
Adding another $5 million should help the Eagles continue to address some roster needs. I’m sure people wouldn’t mind if they actually tried to, you know, fix the running back position.
UPDATE: Long posted some tweets about how this restructure doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be back. (My guess is that he will be, though.)
That doesn’t mean that at all.

I love Philly so much. The fans, all of it. I’m making a football decision, though. Money moved doesn’t mean it’s been made. Thanks though.
