More of the latest Browns news and notes from around the web in today’s dose of the Saturday Dawg Chow.
- Browns do not need a first-round tackle (cleveland.com) - College football’s best offensive linemen paraded through the NFL Combine on Thursday, big bodies, long arms, quick feet and sharp minds. If they were among the best of the best, like Alabama’s Jonah Williams, Florida’s Jawaan Taylor or Greg Little of Ole Miss, then the Browns don’t need them. At least not at No. 17 in the first round, which is where the Browns may have to take any of those three to get them.
- Parris Campbell reflects on debt he owes his mother (Ohio.com) - As Parris Campbell toes the line for the most important 40-yard dash of his life Saturday, he will run for his 9-month-old son, Kai. He will run for his mother, Shelly Woodruff, who has worked 25 years as an outreach coordinator for the Summit County Prosecutor’s office.
- DK Metcalf would bring size, hands, NFL genes and familiar name to Browns (Browns Zone - The Browns could use size at receiver. Mississippi’s DK Metcalf has plenty. At 6-foot-3 3/8, a chiseled 228 pounds and 1.9 percent body fat, Metcalf is built like a house, according to Raiders coach Jon Gruden.
- Joe Thomas has a fan in Jonah Williams (ESPN) - Jonah Williams, the No. 1-rated offensive tackle from Alabama, never met retired Browns legend Joe Thomas -- until Friday -- but considers him one of his idols. Williams is a student of his position and said he has been studying tapes of Thomas to make himself a better left tackle. His eyes brightened when he confirmed he met with the Browns in a 15-minute interview.

- Why this year’s combine is less stressful for the Bills (Buffalo News) - Brandon Beane joked Thursday that he’s resting more comfortably now than he was a year ago at this time. That’s because he’s not obsessing over who is going to play quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. That job belongs to Josh Allen, with Matt Barkley and Derek Anderson behind him.
- Brandon Graham smiling from ear to ear (philadelphiaeagles.com) - It was an ultimate business tug-of-war, and in the end Brandon Graham followed his heart and his head and, instead of testing NFL free agency on March 13, decided to agree to terms with the Eagles on a contract extension through 2021 that puts him in position to play his entire career in Philadelphia.
- What Jason Witten’s return means for the Cowboys (ESPN) - As it was from 2003 through 2017, the excitement regarding Jason Witten’s return isn’t just about his ability to convert clutch third-down catches, but also for what he means off the field.
- Giants considering trading linebacker Olivier Vernon (NFL.com) - The New York Giants are currently at an impasse with Landon Collins, but could Big Blue soon be parting ways with a different Pro Bowl defender? The Giants have discussed the possibility of trading linebacker Olivier Vernon, sources told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Friday.
