The Arizona Cardinals brought in 12 undrafted free agents following the 2019 NFL Draft. While they’ll have additional players in as tryout players, there are 12 they offered money to and signed.
Each day we will take a look at one or two of the players with a little background information on them.
Yesterday was Murray State quarterback Drew Anderson.
Today, it is Maine tight end Drew Belcher.
Maine tight end DREW BELCHER (6-3, 250) played in 37 career games and began his collegiate career as a quarterback before shifting to tight end for his final two seasons. He caught 63 passes for 581 yards and three touchdowns the past two seasons, including catching 46 passes for 357 yards and a touchdown last season to help Maine advance to the FBS semifinals. As a quarterback, Belcher completed 159-of-278 passes for 1,529 yards and nine touchdowns, including completing all four pass attempts last season and throwing for two touchdowns. A Reading, MA native, Belcher also had 210 carries for 644 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Belcher didn’t test overly well in the forty running a 4.82 or the bench with 16 reps, but the rest of his numbers were better than the league average for the position, posting a 34” vertical (32.5” top 10 range for the combine), 120” broad jump (113” top 10 range for combine), a 7.05 3-cone which would have been the third best among tight ends in 2019 combine), and a 4.22 20-yard shuttle which would have been tied for third with Noah Fant at the 2019 combine.
Good luck to Belcher.
