The GGN NFL Draft
For the last few years 32 intrepid GGN members play GM for an NFL team. The plan is to have each participant study his or her team to decide their strategy. The stand-in GM’s have full autonomy and can trade any players on their team or draft picks they possess. The object is of course to make your team a Super Bowl contender because of the superiority of your infinite wisdom.
This is no 3 day draft. This draft takes over a month to complete, and in truth we never actually complete it. This year the draft went into the mid 6th round; 182 picks were made; which is a large enough sample for you to decide who did the best job. Now remember that many of these people worked long and hard on this; it was a commitment to determine the right course of action as well as the myriad of trade offers they had to assess.
To be a good GM you had to check in frequently every day; in the morning, on a lunch break or before dinner to see the progress of the draft and/or the negotiation of a trade. So please take a little time to sort out the information given and make an informed and unbiased vote. Don’t be swayed by your dislike for another team; everyone tried their best no matter which team they had.
I also purposely did not share the names of each teams GM so you again will not be tempted to just vote for a friend or a favorite blogger. Also you must remember that not every GM is given the same amount of picks so take that into consideration when you do your evaluation. This may take a little time and I will leave the voting open for a while.
In case you were worried; the Jets made numerous trades but still made a defensive tackle their first pick (phew that was a close one) so no need to be alarmed.
