Patrick Mahomes favored to win NFL MVP | Yahoo! Sports
Less than a month before training camps begin for most NFL teams, Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to take home a second straight MVP in the Westgate Las Vegas’ SuperBook at 4/1. Per the Action Network, he was 50/1 last offseason.
Las Vegas oddsmakers like Patrick Mahomes to repeat as NFL MVP in 2019 and, to be fair, even a notable regression from the Kansas City Chiefs star’s 50-touchdown breakout would probably qualify for a prestigious award.
Still, if Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz, Drew Brees, Tom Brady or any of the other favored MVP candidates entering this season aren’t your cup of tea, which under-the-radar names might be worth serious consideration?
“I don’t want to be hired to be a feel-good story,” Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy told Yahoo Sports, five months after he was passed over for multiple head-coaching positions during a hiring cycle that resulted in eight vacancies and only one minority hire (Flores). “I want to be hired because I’m the best man for the job.”
Targets gained and lost entering 2019 | NFL
6. Kansas City Chiefs (124)
Notable additions: Mecole Hardman Notable losses: Chris Conley, Kelvin Benjamin
Breakdown: The Chiefs targets are tough to predict (outside of Travis Kelce) at this point, due to the fact that we’re still waiting to find out what will happen with Tyreek Hill. Assuming he’s suspended for six or more games, the value of Sammy Watkins will obviously rise. At this point, he’s on the WR2/3 radar in most fantasy re-drafts. Hardman would also become a big-time sleeper if Hill were banned for a lengthy period. The fastest wide receiver at the NFL Scouting Combine, he could start the season as the No. 2 wideout behind Watkins.

Mike Freeman’s 10-Point Stance: Latest Buzz on Most Impactful NFL Stories | Bleacher Report
The hope: Not a single scout interviewed thinks Mahomes will have a significant drop-off from last season. The reason is coach Andy Reid, whose track record says he’ll find even more ways to take advantage of Mahomes’ unique abilities after he threw for 50 touchdowns last season.
The reality: Every team drafts a player or two with character concerns. Or three. This is a fact of NFL life. But teams say privately that the Chiefs have taken as many, if not more, chances on these types of players than any team in recent league history. And now those rivals say those gambles have come back to haunt the team, and Hill is a prime example.

Van Noy explains how Pats will overcome roster losses | NFL
Joining NFL Network’s Total Access this week, Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy told former New England star Willie McGinnest that the key to replacing all the losses has been the culture Belichick has instilled in the veterans still with the program.
”Bill does a really good job of the culture being set with the players that have been there for their tenures,” Van Noy said. “Like Patrick Chung, Dont’a Hightower, Devin McCourty, Tom (Brady), they’ve been there for a while, Matthew Slater. Those guys have already been passed on from your generation, the standard. And we’re just trying to keep that legacy going.
