Golden Nuggets: Where does Jimmy G rank among NFL QB’s?

Love him or hate him, it’s hard to argue that Chris Simms has made a habit of generating NFL QB rankings that create quite a buzz among NFL fans and media alike, and his most recent list is no exception.

There were more than a few questionable placements including Deshaun Watson at number five- ahead of Brady (9), Brees (10), and Rivers (12). And Jared Goff at nineteen - four spots behind Kirk Cousins.

And while we could spend the rest of the offseason dissecting the list and rearranging it to better match our own opinions and personal preferences, l’d like to focus on our own Jimmy Garoppolo and where he landed on the list - at number 21.

Simms had Jimmy G wedged between Mitch(ell?) Trubisky at 20 and Sam Darnold at 22. And while all three have certainly shown promise, their full potential has yet to be realized in the NFL. The big difference of course is that Jimmy G is already entering his 6th season in the NFL, while Trubisky and Darnold are entering just their third and second seasons respectively.

But if we’re being fair, for all of the experience gained while serving as Tom Brady’s backup in his first three years, Garoppolo wasn’t really given an opportunity to play. Which means this is only his second opportunity to begin the season as a full time starter for an NFL team.

So where should Jimmy G rank? Should he be ranked by potential or production to date? Is he ranked too low? Too high? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
