This was definitely a preseason game as the New York Giants hosted the Chicago Bears. Once again the Giants held Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram out of the game as healthy scratches while the Bears held their entire starting roster out of the game.
The Giants got the ball to start the game and proceeded to march the ball down the field to score on their opening possession. While the Chicago Bears didn’t field any starters, the Giants did what they needed to do, with Eli Manning completing all four of his attempts (not including a defensive pass interference) on the opening drive for 42 yards and a touchdown.
That turned out be the end of Eli Manning’s night, and it was time for Daniel Jones.
While the also didn’t play any of their defensive starters, Jones continued his efficient preseason, completing every pass attempt on his first drive, but mishandled the exchange and the Bears recovered the fumble. From there the teams exchanged three-and-outs as the Giants’ defense began to get pressure on the Bears’ offense.
The Giants were able to get Jones a look in a two-minute situation after a whiffed snap by Chase Daniel resulted in a safety. Jones responded with a touchdown pass to T.J. Jones, set up a great couple carries from Paul Perkins.
The Bears will receive the ball to start the second half.
