Vegas is not to high on the Lions head coach.
The fact that Matt Patricia’s first year as head coach in Detroit was underwhelming has already been a beaten to death, but in case you were not sure how bad the national perception of the Lions coach was, today we got more proof.
Sportsbetting.ag released their odds for coaching related props today, per MLive’s Benjamin Raven, and Patricia came in tied for dead last.
Per Raven, Patricia is one of four coaches listed at the bottom with 50-1 odds to be named coach of the year in 2019. While this is an indictment of how the national media sees Patricia, it also shows that many outside of Detroit are not too high on the Lions roster entering this season.
- NFL.com’s Adam Schein listed who he believes to be the Top 9 defenses ahead of the upcoming season, and despite the many improvements the Lions made on that side of the ball this offseason they did not make the cut. All three of the other NFC North teams did, though.
- The Lions official PR Twitter account gave us a nice tidbit today, pointing out that this weekend’s game against the Houston Texans will be the Lions’ first ever preseason match up with them.

- CBS’ Bryan DeArdo named what he believes to be the 20 greatest rookie campaigns in NFL history, and former Lions running back Barry Sanders’ 1989 season came in 14th.
- Team reporter Tori Petry gave us an update on the state of the team coming out of the Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots, and heading into a week of joint-practices with the Texans, on her Twitter account Tuesday.
