Poll: Does Josh Gordon being reinstated give you hope for Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory?

NFL: NFC Wild Card-Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The precedent has been set for a Randy Gregory return.

The NFL had quite the Friday news dump this week as just before evening hit it was announced that New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated by the league. Wow.

This is gigantic news for the defending Super Bowl Champions as Gordon has elite traits for a wide receiver and was a big help to them last season when he was available. He didn’t play through their playoff run, but his presence throughout the 2019 season will likely aid another for the Pats.

Of course, as Cowboys fans, this news will always lead us to one thought... what does this mean for Randy Gregory?

Gordon and Gregory have experienced similar issues while in the NFL as they’ve both been suspended by the league for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Both Gordon and Gregory have also been reinstated at points by the league only to be suspended yet again. While it has felt like the careers of both were likely over at points, if there is a path to return to football for Gordon you have to imagine there’s one for Randy Gregory, too.

Of course, if Gregory wants to return to the National Football League he will have to apply for reinstatement. About a month ago he was readying himself to do so, and if he were able to make it back that would be a welcome boost to a Cowboys defensive line that will be without Robert Quinn early on in the season (suspension).

There is now an existing precedent for Randy Gregory to return yet again to the NFL. Do you think it ultimately happens, or do you not want to get your hopes up?
