That Trumaine Johnson hamstring injury doesn’t sound super minor. He’ll get tests, but Gase, to me, sounded somewhat concerned #Jets

Johnson’s injury occurred after he intercepted a Sam Darnold pass. There seemed to be some miscommunication between Darnold and intended receiver Eric Tomlinson. This led to an errant pass that Johnson picked off.
Johnson is a major question mark for the Jets defense. It would be difficult to imagine a worse first season in New York for the 2018 free agent signing.
While there are no guarantees Johnson will return to form this season, the Jets are depending on him a lot. The cornerback group looks shaky on paper even with Trumaine. The ability for this unit to hold things together will depend quite a bit on Johnson having a bounce back season. He is the only cornerback on the roster with a resume of NFL success.
Kyron Brown took Johnson’s spot on the starting defense after the injury occurred.
