With the knee injury to Hunter Henry keeping him out for at least the next month, the Los Angeles Chargers had a sizable hole at the tight end spot. Neither Virgil Green nor Sean Culkin was likely to be up to the task of replacing the Bolts’ oft-injured young tight end. Today, they have attempted to plug that hole with the signing of veteran tight end Lance Kendricks.
The 6’3” tight end spent the earlier part of this year on the New England Patriots, but spent the first two weeks of the season trying to find a new home. He has found it now, and it will be worth watching to see how quickly he integrates into Ken Whisenhunt’s offense. The former Wisconsin Badger has played in 125 career games, and has amassed 241 receptions for 2,505 yards, and 19 touchdowns, so he brings a bit more offensive pop than the Chargers’ current stable of healthy tight ends.
