Because, seriously, who else is worth considering?
When you put together the sort of performance that the Minnesota Vikings vomited out on Sunday afternoon in Green Bay, you’re generally hard-pressed to find anyone that could, potentially, be worthy of a “game ball” or any other sort of positive recognition. Fortunately, the best player on the Vikings’ roster. . .at least, as things stand right now. . .made it easy.
Yes, this week’s game ball goes to the only guy wearing purple that showed up from start to finish on Sunday, and that’s running back Dalvin Cook.
Cook had what might have been the best game of his young career on Sunday, as he carried the ball 20 times for 154 yards, and got the Vikings on the board with a huge 75-yard run in the second quarter. He also caught three passes for 37 yards.
It took a Herculean performance by safety Anthony Harris to keep the Week 1 Game Ball away from Cook, but since nobody else performed worth a damn on Sunday. . .not after giving up 21 points before the team got off the bus and every offensive player besides Cook looking woefully inept. . .he’s the easy choice for this week’s away.
