Howie Roseman didn’t make it happen.
Well, my friends, the Jalen Ramsey to the Philadelphia Eagles dream is dead.
Instead, it’s the Los Angeles Rams who are acquiring the star cornerback. Here’s what they gave up to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for Ramsey:
2020 first-round pick
2021 first-round pick
2021 fourth-round pick
It was previously reported that the Eagles offered a first-round pick and a second-round pick to the Jaguars. That offer obviously pales in comparison to the one that it took to get done.
It’s hard not to view this as a missed opportunity by Howie Roseman. The Eagles have a huge need at cornerback and Ramsey, 24, is an elite player under contract through at least 2020.
Now the Eagles will have to look elsewhere for corner help prior to the 2019 NFL trade deadline at 4:00 PM Eastern on Tuesday, October 29. The Eagles might be looking at an option like Chris Harris Jr. at this point. Maybe they find a way to pry Patrick Peterson away from the Cardinals, who’ve insisted they’re keeping him.
Perhaps the Eagles won’t even acquire a cornerback. They’re expected to get Ronald Darby, Jalen Mills, Avonte Maddox, and Cre’Von LeBlanc back from injury in the coming weeks. But are those guys real solutions?
Probably not.
