Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew threw three touchdowns against the New York Jets today in a 29-15 victory, but he may only remember two of them.
When asked about the game-clinching touchdown he threw to DJ Chark late in the fourth quarter to put the game well out of reach, Minshew said he couldn’t really reflect on it as well as he may have liked.
“I don’t know, I kinda just blacked out on that one,” Minshew said shortly after the game with a laugh. “He did an awesome job. He came from all the way on the other side of the field and worked all the way back. That is a credit to him working and just finding a way. It was covered on the front end and especially down there you can make stuff happen and get a little time. I saw he was going to work open and one of the defensive linemen had me cut off, so I stepped back in and threw it. It was a good play.”
It was a good play. I mean... look at it. LOOK AT IT.

The Jaguars had been stifled in the red zone repeatedly, so getting points on this drive was very important. Josh Lambo had already knocked in three field goals, but you don’t win football games with field goals. A touchdown here puts the nail in the coffin.
And on third down — as he had done on third downs all freaking game — Minshew made some magic happen.
There wasn’t necessarily any pressure coming his way from the Jets defenders, but he felt rolling out to his right would help him extend the play and also help the receivers gain some separation. It worked. Minshew found Chark on a shallow cross running nearly the entire width of the field to get open in the near corner of the end zone.
Game. Set. Match. Minshew.
