Are you ready for some football?

It’s the penultimate game of the 2019 NFL regular season for your Minnesota Vikings, and the next two weeks are all about seeding and figuring out who the purple will play in the first round of the playoffs. Tonight, the Vikings host the Green Bay Packers, looking for a season split and attempting to keep their hopes of a third NFC North title in five seasons alive.

Here is everything you need to know about tonight’s contest:

Date and Time: Monday, 23 December, 2019, 7:15 PM Central time

Location: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Television Coverage: ESPN

Radio Coverage: Vikings Radio Network, Sirius Channel 83, XM Channel 226, SiriusXM App Channel 819

Line: Vikings -4.5, Over/Under 47

Chris’ Prediction: Vikings 27, Packers 17

Three Keys:

1) Contain Aaron. . .Jones: The first time these two teams played, Aaron Jones was able to do a lot of damage on the ground. Green Bay’s passing game hasn’t been nearly as good on the road as it has been at home this season, and if the Vikings can prevent Jones from ripping off big chunks of yardage, it will make things significantly easier for the defense.

2) Here comes the Boone: With the Vikings having clinched a playoff spot and their top two running backs (Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison) sitting out this evening, the load at running back will likely be shouldered by young Mike Boone, who impressed in limited action against the Chargers last week. The Packers’ run defense is not very good, and Cook lit them up the first time these teams played. Boone should help the Vikings’ offense continue to be balanced.

3) Don’t relax: Yes, the Vikings are in the postseason, but they sort of have to play like they aren’t in this one. They still have an outside shot at a division title, and given their home record. . .going into tonight, they remain the only team in the league that is undefeated at home. . .they have to know that getting a home playoff game could potentially be huge. They need to attack both offensively and defensively and not only win, but make a statement.

That’s everything you need to be ready for tonight’s big game, ladies and gentlemen. Remember, we’ll have a new Open Thread popping up at the start of each quarter, so keep your eyes open for that and keep the discussion moving along accordingly.

With that, hopefully we can all meet back here in three hours and talk about how the Vikings are totally going to win the NFC North next week.

SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
