Thursday Night Football, Week 14. Tonight the 6-6 Chicago Bears play host to the 6-6 Dallas Cowboys.
The last time these two teams met Dak Prescott threw his first career touchdown pass and Ezekiel Elliott had his first career 100-yard rushing game in a 31-17 Cowboys victory in 2016.
This year the Cowboys and the Bears are two teams under-performing expectations and struggling to find some consistency. The Cowboys come into this game losers of three of their last four games, but the three losses have all come against playoff contenders. The Cowboys offense has hit a bump in the road, as they have scored just 24 points combined in the last two games. They will look to get untracked tonight against a tough Bears defense that has given up 20 points or less in four straight games and nine out of twelve this year. On defense the Cowboys have failed to force a turnover in any of their last four games. It’s tough to win in the NFL if you never force turnovers.
The Bears come into this game one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL. At 6-6 they have been all but eliminated from playoff contention in the tough NFC. The Bears come into this game winners of three of their last four games, but the three victories have come against the Lions (twice) and the Giants, two of the worst teams in the NFL.
Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky got off to a horrendous start to the 2019 season, but he has played a bit better of late, throwing eight touchdown passes and four interceptions in his last four games. Largely due to Trubisky’s struggles the Bears offense has been anemic this year, ranking 27th in points scored and 29th in yards this year. The poor offensive play has made winning tough in spite of a very good Bears defense.
It’s the Bears and the Cowboys in a matchup of two NFC teams that started the year hoping for so much more than they have been able to produce. Enjoy the game everybody.
