Joe is back!
Since free agency truly started the Dallas Cowboys have been very focused on retaining many of their players that were in need of new contracts.
Dallas has already locked down franchise cornerstone Amari Cooper, plus Dak Prescott was given the franchise tag (we’ll see what comes of that). The Cowboys have also brought back role players like Anthony Brown and even kicker Kai Forbath.
You can add another name to that list, though. Late Wednesday evening word broke that the Cowboys are bringing back a fan-favorite offensive lineman.
The Cowboys are bringing back Joe Looney
Can you believe that Joe Looney has already played four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys? Time sure does fly. Whatever the case that number is only going to grow as he is set to return to the team in 2020.

The Cowboys saw guard Xavier Su’a-Filo leave to the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday so keeping Joe Looney likely became a higher priority for them. You can never have enough depth along the offensive line and Looney is certainly a great point of it.
It’s interesting to see that there was a possibility of Looney following Jason Garrett to the New York Giants (where the latter is now the offensive coordinator). That has yet to happen with any Cowboys that hit free agency.
Joe Looney played admirably for the Cowboys most notably in 2018 when Travis Frederick missed the entire season. His versatility and willingness to do whatever is asked of him is what makes him such a commodity for this team.
Welcome back, Joe.

With regards to no Cowboys player following Jason Garrett to the Giants, that can no longer be said.
Cam Fleming is headed to the Big Apple.
