The buzz around Burrow continues to grow.
The feel around Cincinnati is that they have their franchise quarterback. Joe Burrow, the national championship-winning signal caller from LSU, was taken with the No. 1 overall pick, and there’s no doubt he’ll enter the Queen City with sky-high expectations.
As the Cincinnati Bengals build a roster to help enhance his play, Burrow will have the weapons it takes to make a legitimate playoff run. While that may be a long shot according to most oddsmakers, the future of the Bengals is in good hands.
Don’t take our word for it, though. Former Bengals’ legend Ken Anderson has already said he’s “looking forward” for Burrow to bring the Bengals their first Super Bowl after two failed appearances with the last one coming at tail end of the 80s.
“I welcomed him to the Cincinnati quarterback community,” Anderson told After Hours host Amy Lawrence. “We’ve had a little success here. I said ‘I took a team to the Super Bowl, Boomer (Esiason) took a team to the Super Bowl and that we’re looking forward to him winning a Super Bowl for us so we can all ride his coat tails.”
With the addition of Vonn Bell, D.J. Reader, and Tee Higgins along with the return of A.J. Green and Jonah Williams, this team should see significant improvement on their mere two-win season last year.
However, for both Anderson and us, it may be a few more seasons before the Bengals are considered true Super Bowl contenders. Anderson has hope that Burrow is the answer, and after 60 touchdowns his final season at LSU, it’s certainly possible he is.
Burrow has the city of Cincinnati buzzing for the first time since the team’s last playoff appearance. Everyone thinks he’s the answer. That said, let’s hope we get a glimpse of his potential this coming season.
