The return of Jonah Williams, recent additions, and the development of young players give the team confidence in their line.
A lot of fans would have loved to see former New Orleans Saints guard Larry Warford get picked up by the Bengals. However, team reporter Marisa Contipelli says that’s not going to happen.
Contipelli told us that she “would be surprised” if the team added any more free agents and that they really like the guys they already have on the offensive line.
Jonah Williams will finally make his career debut, which is an obvious source of excitement. And Tre Hopkins, as Contipelli notes, was the anchor of the line. But she also thinks Fred Johnson will prove that his solid play last year was more than just a flash as he moves from left tackle to right tackle. Contipelli shared that the team was really excited when they picked him from the Pittsburgh Steelers last year. She expects Johnson to compete with Bobby Hart.
Contipelli said left guard Michael Jordan “really took big strides last year” and seemed to be turning a corner toward the end of the year. She implied that Xavier Su’a-Filo will be the right guard and that former center Billy Price will get backup opportunities at both guard spots.
