Weekend Eve Open Thread

Good Morning, It’s Friday!

You’re probably wondering why their is another gif up here since I usually post a Thorsday gif only; with the lack of meaningful Vikings news and theviruswedonottalkabouthere goofing up the start of training camp, I thought I’d borrow a page from Gone Fishin by posting some questions to stimulate conversation. Sprinkler system is fixed again, at least for the moment, and it’s rained every day since last Thorsday and is supposed to continue so my planned brisket on the smoker is in jeopardy for the weekend. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s weekend eve, knock off early and have a beer on me.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris notes Vikings Table is helping to provide meals for those in need. If you have the resources available to help someone else, please do.

My poorly titled Fanpost is still going on if you want to discuss current events.
(yes, that’s shameless promotion, still no shame on my part)

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com Former Vikings player and coach Pete Bercich continues his breakdown of the team’s 15-man 2020 draft class by looking at S Josh Metellus, a 6th round pick out of Michigan, who started three seasons for the Wolverines and could make an immediate impact on special teams in 2020.

In Their Own Words: Eric Kendricks and Anthony Harris. Hear from LB Eric Kendricks and S Anthony Harris on the recent events in the United States.

Top 10 Mic’d Up Players of All-Time: Randy Moss.

Judd Zulgad at SkorNorth.com ponders: Drastic reduction in NFL salary cap for 2021, could be bad news for Dalvin Cook.

League News:

Richard Sherman, Chris Long on why they can’t just ‘stick to sports

NFL coaches will be allowed to return to team facilities starting Friday.

Bucs’ Bruce Arians encouraged by protests, urges action as well.

State of the Franchise: As end of era nears, Saints must go all out.
(until they get eliminated by the Vikings in the playoffs again)

We come to today’s media selection: Led Zepplin - The Immigrant Song

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, don’t touch your waiter’s face and Welcome Aboard!

No Covid 19 discussions.

  1. What are your top five comedies?
  2. Dalvin Cook, extension or no, and if yes what’s the dollar offer on his contract?
  3. Are you going to a game this year?
  4. How did you become a fan of the Minnesota Vikings?
