It’s a tough situation, but from a football perspective, you have to at least feel confident that Washington has options at the RB position. AP, Love, Gibson, Barber, McKissic. Depth is key at a time like this.
— Washington Wire (@Washington_Wire) August 7, 2020
I could care less about the football impact of losing Guice. That is about concern #99 on the top 100 list.
— BGObsession (@BGObsession) August 7, 2020
Washington RB Derrius Guice came into the league with serious character concerns from his time at LSU. There was an incident teams were scurrying to research right before the draft, leading to his fall out of the first round. After these charges, will Guice play football again?
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 7, 2020
It was relayed to me via a source that a current #NFL GM said when Derrius Guice was drafted by the @WashingtonNFL team that the book on him was that Guice was "the biggest piece of (bleep) he'd ever come across" ...

Now he's gone & a horrible mistake.https://t.co/8GbHosnELc pic.twitter.com/2QL81ZJP4X
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Dept the charges against Guice stemmed from 3 separate domestic related incidents earlier this year -- on Feb 14, March 13 and April 17.

Derrius Guice over his two-plus years with @WashingtonNFL had as many stints on injured reserve as he had touchdowns (three) and as many domestic violence-related charges as he had games played (five).

Claiming Reuben Foster marked the beginning of the end for the Bruce Allen regime.
— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) August 8, 2020
Now by releasing Derrius Guice, Ron Rivera gets to show how things are different in Ashburn.https://t.co/hy7DVyeccm
Eventually, sure. But as I wrote, the Foster signing is a big part of what got Brian Lafemina fired. And Lafemina getting fired didn’t sit well at NFL HQ. https://t.co/b1GizsK1bT

Drafting record is decent with Kyle Smith in charge. Certain picks, including Guice and Haskins, had Bruce and Dan, respectively, pressing heavily. We will see is Haskins works out. We all hope he is the franchise QB #WashingtonFootballTeam needs. https://t.co/RoEb01lVKq

The @NFL has updated its testing COVID-19 protocols. If an asymptomatic player/employee, with no known history, tests positive, he/she will take two more tests to confirm. Attempt to identify persistent positives/unconfirmed positives, and separate them from new infections. pic.twitter.com/zjU9Tmjaoi
— Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) August 7, 2020
On a conference call with reporters, NFL's chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills, said league has conducted 75,000 tests since camps opened. He would not confirm the union's count of 56 players testing positive.
— Judy Battista (@judybattista) August 7, 2020
When asked about the possibility of continuing with daily testing, as J.C. Tretter has mentioned, even after two week window ends, Sills did not rule it out. Said they continue to discuss protocols. Said more discussion and analysis of results are needed.
— Judy Battista (@judybattista) August 7, 2020
The NFL says it is still sorting through its data to try to determine how many new cases of coronavirus it has among players, coaches and staffers. The NFLPA said Thursday that 56 players had tested positive since the opening of training camps. The league is not confirming that.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) August 7, 2020
The new protocols are for players who may have some remnant of the virus that is no longer active, but which triggers a positive test. Players would be isolated until follow up test results return, but obviously the idea is to avoid players missing games w/false positives.
