Fact: Kurt Benkert owns several desert tortoises
Happy Wednesday, Falcoholics! It’s so good to see you. Don’t worry, we saved your spot—right over there, next to that large pile of empty Steel Reserve cans. Have a seat. Only the best for our favorite reader. (Yes, I’m talking to you.)

Roster moves
The Falcons made some roster moves yesterday, waiving Rojesterman Farris, Austin Larkin, and Bryson Young. The decision to move on from Larkin is a bit of a head scratcher, especially this early, but the team needs to be decisive as they compose a roster without the benefit of preseason games. Larkin was a preseason standout last year and a coaching staff favorite, so I won’t be surprised if we see him back in some capacity down the road.
Kurt Benkert
Kevin Knight’s player profile of Kurt Benkert is probably something you should read if you’re concerned about the future of the quarterback depth chart. Even if Benkert is destined for the practice squad in 2020, he’ll have a real shot to take over as QB2 in 2021.

Evan Birchfield broke down some of head coach Dan Quinn’s recent comments about COVID-19 and its effect on training as well as the upcoming season. This is unchartered territory for all of us, including the coaching staff. It sounds like they are just trying to make the best of it, which is all we can really expect.
Opt out deadline
The NFL has decided that players must opt out by tomorrow (Thursday). This is problematic on a number of levels, and it really showcases the lack of consideration for the players. But what else is new?
Matt Ryan picks
