While many NBA and MLB games were canceled Wednesday as players protested amid continued police brutality in the United States, many NFL teams opted not to practice on Thursday.
That included fellow SoFi Stadium residents, the LA Chargers, along with eight others around the league, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

However, the Rams were among the teams that did decide to practice Thursday, but it came after a long discussion between coach Sean McVay and his players.
It was decided in a team meeting that the best approach the team could take was to get on the field and work toward a solution in the meantime. After practice, McVay passionately talked to media members about the decision.
“Everybody was on board to practice,” he said. “I think what guys are most interested in, is how can they use their platform to really do something to affect and influence that real change.
We got a lot of really special men on this team that have a passion for making things right in this country. Trying to eliminate and avoid these tragedies that are occurring, that’s what we’re working through right now.
I know that, that’s what we’re all working through and want to be able to start to put some actions in place as opposed to just continuing to talk about it. That’s what I think you can expect to see moving forward from us.”
McVay has had an open line of communication this offseason with the team as social and racial injustice issues are at the forefront of everyone’s minds across the country.
As has been his approach, McVay has encouraged his players to speak — and they did just that to both their teammates and to the media after practice Thursday.

Robert Woods says the meeting among leadership this morning before practice was all about how to act and particularly in grassroots ways - he describes it as getting on buses and into communities, opening their own pockets, opening minds and voting on a local AND national levels.

These discussions will surely be ongoing between McVay and his players as the Rams have shown they are committed to this key off-field issue.
