It’s been a pretty busy Monday at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center. Between signing GM Rick Spielman to a contract extension and trading a draft pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for defensive tackle P.J. Hall, we’ve finally seen some action. The Vikings made several other moves on Monday as well, so let’s get everyone caught up on those.
The Vikings have placed linebacker Ben Gedeon on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List to start the season. Gedeon, who dealt with concussion issues last season and was placed on injured reserve in December, did not pass his physical over the weekend, and so the team has placed him on the PUP, meaning he can’t practice with the team until he is cleared. No indication has been given as to whether or not this is still related to the concussion issues from last season.
The purple also activated UDFA wide receiver Quartney Davis from the Non-Football Injury (NFI) List. Davis was one of two players that was placed on NFI last weekend, along with cornerback Nevelle Clarke. Davis passed his physical, however, and that means that the Vikings have removed him from the list.
In order to make room on the roster, the Vikings waived wide receiver Davion Davis and cornerback Kemon Hall. Davis spent 2019 with the Vikings, getting promoted to the active roster twice and appearing in one regular season game, the Thursday night contest against Washington. Hall was released by the Los Angeles Chargers as a part of their final cuts in 2019 and spent last season on the Vikings’ practice squad.
