Club adds cornerback Stephen Denmark and center Javon Patterson.

The Cleveland Browns added two players to the practice squad on Tuesday, signing cornerback Stephen Denmark and center Javon Patterson.

In a flurry of corresponding moves, the club also placed wide receiver Ryan Switzer on the practice squad/injured list with an undisclosed injury, and released center Evan Brown and cornerback Prince Smith from the practice squad.

Denmark was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Valdosta State. He missed training camp his rookie year due to an ankle injury, and then spent all of 2019 and the first four weeks of this season on Chicago’s practice squad before being released.

The 6-foot-3 and 214-pound Denmark began his college career at wide receiver before switching to cornerback for his final season for the NCAA Division II National Champions, posting 55 tackles and three interceptions.

Patterson was also a seventh-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, picked eight slots after Denmark, by the Indianapolis Colts out of Mississippi. He spent his rookie season on the injured reserve list for the Colts after tearing his ACL, was cut at the end of training camp in September, and had a cup of coffee on the practice squad of the New York Giants.

The 6-foot-3 and 305-pound Patterson made 42 starts at Mississippi, mostly at left guard (37). But he also saw time at center, with three starts, and right guard, with two starts.
