The Falcons are cruising into the much-needed bye week with a 3-6 record after their win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. All of the Falcons news, notes, and narratives in Thursday’s edition of Falcoholinks.
Foye wins NFC Defensive Player of the Week
Linebacker Foyesade Oluokun has been a revelation this season, and for his Week 9 performance against the Denver Broncos he received NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. It’s the first of hopefully many of the award for the young defender enjoying a breakout season.
Arthur Blank promises diversity
The Falcons are already evaluating potential candidates to fill their head coach and general manager vacancies, and owner Arthur Blank has promised a diverse set of candidates for the open positions.
It’s the first time since 2015 that the Atlanta Falcons have embarked on a head coaching search, and the first time since 2008 since they’re looking to fill the GM role, so it’s a definite positive that Blank will be evaluating all his options.
The good and bad from Week 9
Hat tips & head-scratchers are one of our weekly features where we take a look at the individual moments that made — or potentially broke — the game. The Falcons escaped with a victory against the Broncos courtesy of some unexpected contributions on offense, but nearly blew it because of end-of-game issues that have existed all season long.
Helping military families
The Falcons have been a very active franchise when it comes to their ties and contributions to the military, its members, and their families. One organization that they remain involved in as TAPS: Tragedy Assistance for Survivors. The Falcons have partnered with TAPS since 2016, and they have continued that partnership this season.
