Saturday Open Thread
Good Morning, It’s Saturday!
First, our condolences to the family and friends of Green Bay Packer great Paul Hornung. We’re starting to lose some of the early great football players that preceded the national coverage of the league due to age; if you don’t know who Mr. Hornung was (besides he played for the Packers) look for Vince Lombardi or Jerry Kramer’s books at your local library to see what a driving force he was for the Packer success in the early and middle 60’s...or you know when I was born. The league (and players association) owe their success to these players, many of whom are not known to the average fan. I did see the poll results from yesterday, bowing to social pressure, my own work and personal pressures this will have to stand for the weekend thread. I’m sure there will be plenty of front page articles to comment on and if nothing else it will be a Red Zone weekend full of football. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s Saturday, time to start the smoker and get the weekend started!

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to wash your hands, and Welcome Aboard!
Topic of the day: The Vikings are starting the second half of their season, and are at a pivotal game. Win and we’re talking a possible playoff berth as a wild card, lose and we’re back to mock drafts and trying to figure out which top tier QB the Vikings can draft. Put your score prediction for the Monday game in the comments.
