Sunday the Seattle Seahawks defense and secondary could do little as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw for 415 yards and 3 touchdowns as the team lost for the second time in three games. The Bills threw early and often against a Seattle secondary that was without one starting cornerback Shaquill Griffin, and which saw the other starting corner, Quinton Dunbar, playing through injury.
The results Sunday were disastrous, and brought to a close a very forgettable first half of the 2020 season for the Seahawks pass defense. The performance was so bad it had fans and observers calling for changes, whether that be for the firing of defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr, for new personnel in the secondary or some other kind of move. Tuesday the team responded, sort of, by releasing a defensive back off the practice squad.
The Seahawks released cornerback DeMarkus Acy off their practice squad, according to the NFL's transaction wire. Could see more movement at that position this week with Shaquill Griffin and Quinton Dunbar iffy for Sunday's game against the Rams.

In reality, the release of DeMarkus Acy from the team’s practice squad likely had more to do with the return of safety Jamal Adams to the lineup than anything else. Acy was signed to the practice squad on October 7, meaning he would have entered the COVID testing protocol for the Seahawks the week prior, which would have been just days after Adams initially injured his groin in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys.
In any case, the move leaves Seattle with an open spot on the practice squad, meaning there may be a signing announced by the team in the coming days. With a trip to Southern California to take on the Los Angeles Rams coming up this weekend, it would not be a surprise to see a move which adds extra depth in the secondary or at running back, if Carlos Hyde and Chris Carson are set to be out again.
