TNF: Titans vs Colts Game Thread

Thursday Night Football, Week 10. Tonight the Tennessee Titans host the Indianapolis Colts in a matchup of AFC South playoff contenders.

The 6-2 Titans come into this game off a big win against the Chicago Bears in which the Titans defense played perhaps its best game of the year. The Titans are a team that relies on turnovers. They rarely turn the ball over on offense, ranking 2nd in the NFL in offensive turnovers with just four all year, while generating defensive turnovers at the 3rd highest rate in the NFL with 14. Without that turnover differential the Titans would not be a winning team. The Titans have a nice offense led by Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill and A.J. Brown, but the defense has struggled all year, ranking 25th in the NFL.

The 5-3 Colts come into this game off a loss in which they were dominated by the Baltimore Ravens defense. The Colts offense, led by an aging Philip Rivers, struggles to move the ball, ranking 19th in the NFL. The Colts defense, on the other hand, has been outstanding, ranking 1st in the NFL this year. The Colts defense has shut down the opponents’ running game all year, but the Titans’ Derrick Henry presents a formidable challenge. If the Titans can get Henry rolling it will help set up Ryan Tannehill and the Titans’ passing game. On the other hand if the Colts shut down Henry, Tannehill might struggle to win the game.

A win by the Colts would pull them even with the Titans atop the AFC South, while a loss to the Titans would put the Colts two games behind the Titans and likely looking at a wild card berth as their best path to the playoffs.

It’s the Titans and the Colts on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
