Crazy like a fox.
Early in 2018, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen vaulted Minnesota Vikings defender Anthony Barr. Barr, a four-time Pro Bowler, is 6’5”, 255 pounds of linebacker hitting machine. He spoke with Tim Graham of The Athletic from this year’s Pro Bowl about the play and was amazed by it during and now after.

“I thought he was going to try to run me over and was, like, ‘This is crazy!’ Then he jumped over me, and I was, like, ‘Well, that’s crazy, too,’” said Barr from Orlando.
The play sparked a series of photoshopped tweets labeled with the hashtag #JoshAllenJumpingOverThings. Some of them are pretty good.
“You get got sometimes,” noted Barr.
Meanwhile, Allen set the Bills record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a season (631).
“He’s a competitive athlete,” offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said that week. “He’s big, he’s strong, and obviously, we always want to throw first and run second. He’s competitive. It was a good play. We just want him to be smart with his body.”
“You guys are out there for practice and individual, right? We spend five minutes on hurdling and then the other five minutes on footwork,” head coach Sean McDermott joked with the media that week about practicing the jump. “We have [quarterbacks coach] David [Culley] stand out there, and Josh makes the leap.”
