Bears unveil classic 1936 uniforms at centennial celebration

There’s a new but familiar look for the new Monsters of the Midway.

To kick off a 100th Celebration Weekend in Rosemont, the Bears officially revealed their new throwback uniforms—a recreation of and homage to the 1936 Bears. Seeing as how those Bears elected to only wear this specific uniform for one season, the franchise’s modern figureheads felt this ensemble would be the perfect blast to the past to mark a century of football in Chicago.

As so graciously modeled by Tarik Cohen, the uniform features navy pants, a white jersey, striped orange and navy socks, and a helmet with three orange stripes—stripes being a common detail from the early days of the NFL. The unique twist on this occasion is the Bears100 patch on the left shoulder to commemorate the moment.

This 1936 throwback replaces the 1940s edition the Bears wore twice last year. Their orange uniform will still be featured once in the 2019 season.

The Bears will wear these new throwback uniforms in two home games in the upcoming fall: On September 29 against the Vikings, and on Thursday Night Football against the Cowboys on December 5.

Talk about blasting into a (hopeful) new century of football in style.
