Former NFL quarterback Jared Lorenzen aka “The Hefty Lefty” has been hospitalized due to multiple health issues. Word emerged on Friday that Lorenzen had been hospitalized, and his family issued a statement a day later through Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones. In the statement, the family said Lorenzen was in intensive care due to an infection, and kidney and heart issues. They added that Lorenzen had not been feeling well for a few weeks. Lorenzen, 38, started four seasons for Kentucky in college from 2000-2004, throwing for 78 touchdowns and 41 interceptions in his career. He signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2004 and even won a Super Bowl ring with the team. Lorenzen was best known for his weight and was listed at 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds in his playing days.
