But there is some good news
Tonight in Florida, the big 40 Yards of Gold tournament took place, and there were two members of the Minnesota Vikings that participated in it. Both cornerback Trae Waynes and wide receiver Jeff Badet took part in the event that would, in the eyes of some, crown the fastest man in the National Football League.
Unfortunately for Waynes and Badet, neither of them were able to capture the $1 million prize, as they both lost in the first round of the contest.
Waynes lost in the first round to Carolina Panthers’ cornerback Donte Jackson, who eventually won the “Defense” side of the bracket and wound up in the finals.

Badet also lost in the first round to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Richie James.
The eventual winner was another 49ers wide receiver, Marquise Goodwin. Goodwin, who was a track standout in college as well, defeated Jackson in the finals by .05 seconds to take home the $1 million grand prize.
So, unfortunately for Waynes and Badet, they don’t get to add $1 million to their bank accounts. On the bright side. . .and the one thing I’m assuming that Vikings fans care about. . .neither of them came out of the competition with any injuries or anything like that, which is important with Training Camp on the horizon.
Did any of you watch the 40 Yards of Gold broadcast? I think it’s a good idea, but it almost seems like something that should take place during Pro Bowl weekend or something. Oh, and not cost $40. That would be helpful, too.
