Another injury for the promising rookie.
For the second straight week, Trayveon Williams has left a preseason game due to injury.
This time, Williams suffered a left foot injury in the first quarter of the team’s matchup with Washington, and the team has since ruled him out. It’s usually a bad sign when a team is that quick to rule a player out, but hopefully the team is just being extra cautious with Williams after he left last week’s clash with Kansas City due to bruised ribs.
The sixth-round pick out of Texas A&M has been battling for a backup running back spot on the 53-man roster. Coming into the preseason, Williams was widely expected to make it through final cuts, but these injuries may put that in jeopardy.
With fellow sixth-round pick Rodney Anderson out tonight as he recovers from a torn ACL, the Bengals will count on Quinton Flowers and Jordan Ellis to finish the game at running back.
We will update this post if any more details come out tonight.
