What, you think he’s gonna tell us? Are you new here?
In their preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints last Friday, the Minnesota Vikings did not include running back Dalvin Cook on their list of players that would be sitting out. However, he wound up not taking the field. . .not that it mattered, given that the Vikings’ remaining running backs put up over 200 yards on the evening. When asked on Thursday whether or not the Vikings’ main running back would suit up on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Mike Zimmer was extremely forthcoming with the media about Cook’s status.
Just kidding. He’s not telling anyone anything, except that he’s reached a conclusion on whether or not Cook would play.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said he has made a decision on if RB Dalvin Cook will play Sunday but wouldn’t say what it is

While it’s a little unusual for a third-year player to see so much time off on the preseason, in Cook’s case it might not be the worst thing to not have him out there. He’s been available for less than half of the games the Vikings have played since he was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and it might behoove the Vikings to make sure he doesn’t have to take any more punishment than he has to.
On the other hand, Cook needs to work himself into the new offense as well, and though he’s been seeing a lot of reps in camp, obviously a game situation is different. On top of that, neither of his major injuries have been a result of contact. . .he dealt with a hamstring injury for a good portion of last season, and his torn ACL in 2017 was a non-contact injury.
Do you think that Dalvin Cook should be out on the field for the Vikings’ preseason games, folks?
