The Packers’ first touchdown of the year came in a very unconventional manner.
If one had predicted the way the Green Bay Packers would score their first touchdown of the 2019 preseason, everyone would think they were crazy. In truly bizarre fashion, the Packers took a 7-0 lead on the Houston Texans in the first quarter of Thursday’s exhibition opener, thanks to a booming punt by JK Scott.
That’s right.
With the line of scrimmage at the Packers’ 40-yard line, Scott crushed a booming punt towards the Texans’ Keke Coutee, who had to back up to try to field it at the four-yard line. Coutee slipped, however, and the ball hit the turf, bouncing up and hitting Coutee in the shoulder. Equanimeous St. Brown was sprinting down field in coverage, and though he tried to recover the football immediately, it bounced off his hands and just across the goal line. There, St. Brown was able to scoop in the football while on the ground, scoring the Packers’ first touchdown of the preseason.
