Perry brought on to bolster special teams’ units

The Buffalo Bills brought back a familiar face Tuesday to help bolster their running back and special teams unit: Senorise Perry, who spent this past offseason with the Bills.

Perry, who was on the roster for much of the offseason, was placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury on Aug. 31 before being released on Sept. 4.

Perry, who wore O.J. Simpson’s No. 32 jersey this year, the first Bill to wear the jersey since the 1977 season, becomes Buffalo’s fifth running back. Where he is expected to make his biggest impact is on special teams, where he led the Miami Dolphins with nine special teams tackles while playing 301 special-teams snaps during the 2018 season.

A 2014 undrafted rookie free agent out of Louisville, Perry has played in 48 games for the Dolphins and Chicago Bears during his NFL career. He has amassed 454 kickoff return yards on 22 runbacks with the Bears and Dolphins, an average of 20.6 yards per return. Perry has also ran the ball eight times in his NFL career for 30 yards, an average of 3.8 yards per rush.

Also on Tuesday the Bills signed defensive end Wyatt Ray to their practice squad and released running back Bryon Marshall from the practice squad.

This means the Bills currently have a vacant spot on the practice squad with Ray occupying Duke Williams’ practice squad spot when Williams was called up prior to Sunday’s 14-7 win over the Tennessee Titans.
