Washington players will likely have mixed reactions to Jay Gruden being fired after a 0-5 start this season, but it is no surprise that Derrius Guice is among those who were sad to see the head coach go. Shortly after Washington announced that it had parted ways with Gruden, Guice took to Twitter to thank the coach for not giving up on him despite the significant injuries the former LSU star has suffered. Washington drafted Guice in the second round last year, and he tore his ACL in the preseason and never played in a game during his rookie season. Adrian Peterson then stepped in and rushed for 1,042 yards, but Gruden made it clear during training camp this year that Guice would be the focal point of the running game. Gruden never got a chance to put that plan into action, however, as Guice needed yet another knee surgery and was placed on injured reserve.
