Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! The schedule is out, and we’ve now entered the weird period where we don’t really know how the rest of the NFL offseason and season are going to shake out. Nevertheless, the Falcoholinks have got you covered with the news and notes you may have missed from over the weekend.
Falcons 2020 schedule released
The 2020 NFL Schedule was released on Thursday, and while we’re excited to finally know how Atlanta’s season will look, the released also confirmed that the Falcons’ will have one of the toughest slates in the NFL.
Our staff’s opinion of the schedule ranged from acknowledging the difficulty of the schedule ahead to cautiously optimistic that the Falcons can secure a winning record regardless of the opponents on the docket.
December looks like the toughest month on the schedule, but all in all the Falcons will have to endure a rough schedule to make the playoffs in 2020.
Post-draft roster review: Running backs
The Falcons didn’t add any running backs in the 2020 NFL Draft, so how does that spot on the roster look today? Our Everett Glaze evaluated the position.
Rico on the mend
Free safety Ricardo Allen underwent shoulder surgery at the end of the 2019 season, and we were happy to learn that he’s ‘right on schedule’ with his rehab. The rehabilitation process from the procedure was expected to sideline Allen ‘multiple months into the offseason,’ so this is obviously great news.
Warford to the rescue?
The Saints released offensive guard Larry Warford over the weekend, making him the top free agent option on the market. The Falcons’ offensive line situation is far from settled — especially at the left guard spot — so while it’s unlikely they’ll have the cash to secure Warford’s services, it certainly warrants consideration.
A competition at kicker?
Younghoe Koo enters the 2020 season as the Falcons’ presumptive starter at the kicker spot, but they learned last year — the hard way — that it was a mistake to simply hand the reins to Giorgio Tavecchio. Could they bring in some camp competition?
