Wideout Damiere Byrd caught a career-high 32 passes with Arizona in 2019.
Private workouts continue into June for Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. And a recent arrival is among those lending a hand for the pair of quarterbacks atop the 2020 New England Patriots depth chart.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, wide receiver Damiere Byrd has been “a regular” for the organized throwing sessions with Stidham and Hoyer.
Byrd, who became New England’s first outside signing of free agency in March, garnered a $350,000 signing bonus, $600,000 guaranteed and a base salary of $1 million in his one-year contract.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound South Carolina product will contend for a roster spot in the wideout company of Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, Mohamed Sanu, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski, Marqise Lee, Quincy Adeboyejo, Devin Ross, Isaiah Zuber, Will Hastings, Jeff Thomas and Sean Riley.
Since going undrafted in 2015, Byrd has appeared in 28 games across stops with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. He stands with 48 receptions for 488 yards and three touchdowns, along with a 103-yard kickoff return for a TD.
Byrd, who clocked a 4.28 40-time at his Gamecocks pro day, primarily lined up on the outside for Arizona this past campaign. A career-high 32 catches over 11 contests followed.
The 27-year-old accounted for 181 receiving yards alongside Cardinals rookie QB Kyler Murray in the month of December.
