The brothers took offense to some of Brees’ recent comments.

With protests against racism, social inequality, and police brutality continuing all over the United States, NFL players are repeatedly voicing their opinions on the current topics and developments. Among those are New England Patriots defensive backs and twin brothers Devin and Jason McCourty.

After hosting a roundtable discussion earlier this week, they took to their Twitter account to react to statements made by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees about player protests such as taking a knee during the National Anthem potentially returning in light of the protests. Brees said that he would “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country” — a comment the McCourty twins took exception to:

The veteran defensive backs were not the only Patriots to react to Brees’ comments. Running back Brandon Bolden stated that the Saints QB “dropped the ball” while linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley simply stated “This not it AT ALL” — all while numerous other players all over the league, including some of Brees’ teammates, also shared their thoughts on his comments.
