Ron Rivera says he "was very pleased"with practice ...After yesterday, with pads and on hottest day - very happy.

Says he'll watch the tape and figure out who he has to yell at later. @WSHFootballSI @SInow @theMMQB
Ron Rivera is happy his players responded to yesterday's challenge.

He's not blowing smoke, either. Much better practice from the offense today.
Another step for Smith: did take off running on a 7-7 drill; ended up throwing the ball incomplete, but in taking off Rivera said, "that type of thing could lead to the next step."

Here's Rivera on Chase Young. Says they may need to be more cautious than they need to be, because "he's going to be a part of this for years to come." pic.twitter.com/NMuGdIwF94

Ron Rivera ended his press conference by saying "Thanks guy....I'm going to go eat my ice cream."

This is so good for several reasons:
— Kyle Stackpole (@kylefstackpole) August 23, 2020
- Davis asks Rivera if he should explain the drill. Rivera says yes. Davis calls everyone together. They're so in sync.
- Holcomb hanging around Davis on the sideline. That's a good sign.
- Davis coaching up Haskins. Can only help. https://t.co/MXmhBsJQPF

As expected under the current changes to create a better culture, the Washington Football team released WR Cody Latimer. pic.twitter.com/ZQVp22zqiG
— Lake Lewis Jr (@LakeLewis) August 23, 2020
Cody Latimer's hearing in Douglas County (CO) District Court was pushed back to Sept. 10. The hearing will be remote (Webex). He's facing eight charges, four of which are felonies, stemming from his arrest in May.
— Nicki Jhabvala (@NickiJhabvala) August 23, 2020
Washington Football Team has cut WR Cody Latimer. He was arrested this summer on multiple charges including assault and had been on the NFL Commissioner Exempt List. Now he’s gone, never even practiced with the club.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
Washington has released wide receiver Cody Latimer. Can't say that's a stunner based on his offseason arrest. Doesn't really affect my view of the WR room. Dontrelle Inman stepped in fine.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) August 23, 2020
Washington cuts Cody Latimer. Not a surprise at all given his situation. Wanted to let league investigate but this was almost assuredly going to happen all along.
— John Keim (@john_keim) August 23, 2020
This is curious bc Ron Rivera has cited the importance of due process here. But it's not related to a roster move -- Latimer didn't count against the 80 -- and there was no change on legal front (hearing pushed to 9/10).
— Sam Fortier (@Sam4TR) August 23, 2020
Washington might've decided Latimer wasn't worth the wait. https://t.co/0787Uozr1W
For the folks that asked why Washington could cut Guice and keep Latimer, well, there’s your answer.
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 23, 2020
....for? He’s stayed completely out of trouble since being in Washington. He’s not a problem.

The NFL’s statement on a spike in positive tests on Saturday—10 or 11 teams impacted, with the Browns, Bills and Bears among them. pic.twitter.com/S7FLKinHTS
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) August 23, 2020
The NFL, remember, already modified its protocols earlier this month to address unconfirmed positive (or false positive) tests. Any asymptomatic individual with no known history of infection who tests positive is quickly given two confirmatory tests, under that revision.

Not one, but 10 false positives? Then when subsequent negative results/ pressure comes, those results are more credible, each time? Where are the re-tests being done? I'm just asking.... https://t.co/ZQE6a6D1O1

The new "bulletin board material": Ron Rivera posts coronavirus slip-ups from other leagues for his players to see so they stay vigilant.

Will a team make a deal for him because most teams seemingly will slow-play things then move once he is released https://t.co/eCGwMVxLfT

In a nutshell: The Ravens paid Earl Thomas $22M for one season, and they are now trying to figure out how to avoid paying him another $10M. https://t.co/ep1n7M473q
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) August 23, 2020
From Inside Training Camp Live: A firm decision on S Earl Thomas is coming, and a release is likely, sources say. The #Cowboys aren't expected to trade for him, given the money. But when he's released? Expect real interest from Dallas. pic.twitter.com/aj9NcN5s3S
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 23, 2020
We have terminated S Earl Thomas’ contract for personal conduct that has adversely affected the Baltimore Ravens.
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) August 23, 2020
For Washington fans, I’m not sure this one makes too much sense. Schematically, he’d might be asked to play a similar center field role that he did in Seattle, which would fit. But if a culture-based team like the Ravens are cutting him then I’m not sure Rivera would bite https://t.co/Dp2KK3OWJ9
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) August 23, 2020
Before we all go and say “X team should sign Earl”—2 of the best & most respected organizations top down in the NFL just moved on from him in the last 18 months...you sure you want him? Have to do some real good deep diving and diligence to believe you’re right and they’re wrong
— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) August 23, 2020
Most cases don't have a player posting a video of the teams practice. That in and of itself can be considered conduct detrimental. And the fact that it was posted on his social media makes it non-repudiable. He did that after being sent home for the incident, making it egregious.
— Gabriel Wood (@gchwood) August 23, 2020
Obviously no surprise especially with big name coaches out there like Laviolette, Babcock, Gallant etc but this is NOT all Reirden's fault. Not even close. https://t.co/9T15228cph
— Chris Russell AKA The Rooster (@Russellmania621) August 23, 2020
Overlooked in the moment: For those of at home, this felt pretty, pretty good and kinda normal even without fans in the house. Wasn't sure that was possible two months ago. https://t.co/lUYSPxZXQE
