Tuesday the Seattle Seahawks released defensive back DeMarkus Acy from the practice squad, which reduced the depth the team had in the secondary while creating an open spot for a potential signing. Some fans and observers had thought that practice squad spot could be filled by the recently released Luke Willson, but the front office and coaching staff apparently had other ideas.

So, with Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde still dealing with injuries, and Rashaad Penny not yet back from reconstructive surgery last December, the Seahawks opted to bring back Bo Scarbrough. Scarbrough was signed by Seattle late in the 2018 season off the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but did not appear in any games. He then was with the Hawks in training camp in 2019, but was released at final cuts. Unsigned until November, Scarbrough finally signed to the practice squad of the Detroit Lions before a promotion to the active roster for Week 11. While playing just six games and starting only five, Scarbrough finished second on the Lions in rushing with 377 yards. He started this season on injured reserve, but the Lions waived him in late October once he was healthy and had returned to the active roster.
As for the second piece of this press release, a return to the field for Neiko Thorpe would mean extra depth in the secondary while also potentially adding a special teams monster for the home stretch. In any case, this move helps address depth concerns in both the secondary and the backfield, position groups that have seen their ranks depleted recently.
