Monday Night Football, Week 5. In tonight’s game the Cleveland Browns make the long trip west to take on the surprise leaders of the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers.
The Browns come into this game with a 2-2 record, fighting for a tie atop the AFC North standings. The Browns are 12-7 all-time against the 49ers and have won four of the last five games between these two teams.
The Browns have flipped the usual NFL script this year, losing both their home games and winning both their road games. The last year the Browns won their first three road games was 1994.
San Francisco comes into the game in first place in the NFC West with a 3-0 record, the first time the 49ers have started a season 3-0 since 1998.
Last week Nick Chubb ran for 165 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 attempts. The last Browns player to rush for 165+ rushing yards on 20 or fewer attempts was the legendary Jim Brown in 1963. The 49ers have their own dynamic duo at running back. Matt Breida (226) and Raheem Mostert (202) are one of only two sets of teammates with 200+ rushing yards this season.
It’s the 49ers and the Browns in a clash of NFL up and comers on Monday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
